The lambs are sold as commercial lambs. Sires are sourced from a wide range of studs all over Australia. AI is used from time to time but purchasing sires in the preferred mating method. Paxton Border Leicester Stud

Flock no. 4790

The entire Wongary Stud based at Wrattonbully, South Australia was purchased in 2009. The Hooper family did an outstanding job with their sheep, it was an easy decision to purchase the stud when they dispersed. The Paxton Stud has continued to breed fertile, sound structured, well muscled Border Leicester sheep. The wool type has remained constant with an emphasis on no extremes either fine or strong. The purchase of the stud has been a huge success with total clearance of rams every year. Approximately 400 ewes are mated every year.  Sires are sourced from all over Australia, with many Champion rams being purchased at the Annual Horsham sale. Lambs are dropped in August and September.  Approximately 160-200 rams are sold annually.

Paxton Stud

Ian McConnell & George Hood of MacShearing did a great job shearing the BL rams. For the first time we’re micron testing the rams courtesy of Cousins Merino Sevice. Looking forward to seeing the results. Very happy with how the boys came off the board...... they’re in better nick than Ian after a solid day on rams🥵🥵😂 ... See MoreSee Less

Marty needs to update the "Pies '90" sign on the door. At least add 2010.

Interesting to see how they go, we used to 20 years ago. I'm sure they have improved, as in fleece variation, we took a couple of samples each fleece.
