Paxton Poll Dorset Stud

Flock no.2809
Founded in 1985 based on Allendale bloodlines.

Breeding philosophy has always emphasized fast growing, well muscled, long, easy care paddock reared rams. The Paxton Stud mate about 220 ewes a year, and the ewe lambs are mated to a Suffolk ram normally averaging 80 percent conception rate. The lambs are sold as commercial lambs. Sires are sourced from a wide range of studs all over Australia. AI is used from time to time but purchasing sires in the preferred mating method. Lambs are dropped in May and June. Approximately 100 – 110 rams are sold annually.

Paxton White Suffolk Stud

Flock no. 293
Founded in 1990 based on Allendale bloodlines.

Breeding philosophy has always been to breed a true Suffolk type, fast growing, well muscled, long, easy care paddock reared rams. The Paxton stud mates about 220 ewes a year, with the ewe lambs being mated to a Suffolk ram with lambs being sold as commercial lambs. Sires are sourced from many different studs. Lambs are dropped in May and June.
Approximately 100-110 rams are sold annually.

Paxton Border Leicester Stud

Flock no. 4790

The entire Wongary Stud based at Wrattonbully, South Australia was purchased in 2009. The Hooper family did an outstanding job with their sheep, it was an easy decision to purchase the stud when they dispersed. The Paxton Stud has continued to breed fertile, sound structured, well muscled Border Leicester sheep. The wool type has remained constant with an emphasis on no extremes either fine or strong. The purchase of the stud has been a huge success with total clearance of rams every year. Approximately 400 ewes are mated every year.  Sires are sourced from all over Australia, with many Champion rams being purchased at the Annual Horsham sale. Lambs are dropped in August and September.  Approximately 160-200 rams are sold annually.

Thanks to all bidders and underbidders at our Border Leicester sale Thursday. A disappointing day with 64 rams being sold averaging $1247.
Highlights for the day included the sale of Lot 1 to Glencorrie Border Leicester & Dorset Stud for $4000 and the feedback from clients that this was a best line of rams yet.
Plenty of quality rams still available. Contact Harv for details.
